Pro bono service

The Mary Ward Legal Centre runs pro bono advice clinics for people on a low income and no capital. The advice is provided by volunteer lawyers from various legal firms.

PLEASE NOTE: the advice is currently by telephone only. The service covers the following areas of law:

  • Disputed debt (general debt advice can be booked via our debt team)
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Tax
  • Consumer
  • Contract law
  • Small claims
  • Family

Unfortunately we do not advise on:

  • Immigration
  • Criminal law
  • Defamation
  • Complex property matters
  • Wills & probate
  • Leasehold and service charge matters

These appointments are limited to approximately 45 minutes free legal advice so complex matters with large bundles may not be suitable for our clinics. We are unable to provide advocacy or representation. Each client will need to be assessed by our Access to Legal Services Team to see if the matter is suitable for an appointment. The sessions are by appointment only.

Unfortunately this service is very oversubscribed so you may not get an appointment immediately and you will need to call back.
